Residents across Hayes have donated to the community group, the Husseywell Playground Project, to raise the necessary funds to bid for additional funding from the Queen’s Jubilee Parks Fund so that work can take place.
In addition to this, local Councillors have been able to secure an additional £1,000 donation from the Hayes (Kent) Village Association, taking the total amount raised by local residents to nearly £3,000.
If funding is secured from the Jubilee Parks Fund, the Council will install a new roundabout and use the rest of the money to invest in new equipment for the playground.
With this in mind, Councillors wrote to Bromley Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Cllr. Will Rowlands, to make the case for why funding should be granted.
Cllr. Josh Coldspring-White said:
“I’m delighted that the Hayes (Kent) Village Association has agreed to make a significant contribution towards the effort to upgrade the facilities at Husseywell Park playground.
“Along with the amazing efforts from the Husseywell Playground Project, the local community has raised significant funds to install a new roundabout and other new equipment as funding allows.
“With clear support from the community, we hope the Council will agree to provide additional funding and make sure Husseywell Park is a cherished local space for children and families long into the future.”
Stephen White from Hayes (Kent) Village Residents Association, added:
“We are glad to have made a contribution to what we hope will be a brilliant new amenity for younger residents across Hayes to enjoy. We wish the Husseywell Playground Project well in their bid for additional funding.”
