Hayes and Coney Hall's Councillors have been allocated new appointments to Committees on the Council as the new Civic year begins.
At Bromley Council’s AGM on Wednesday, Councillors approved the new appointments alongside welcoming a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the Borough, namely Cllr. David Jeffreys and Cllr. Jonathan Andrews respectively.

Committees oversee the different policy areas pursued by the Council’s leadership and Officers, offering scrutiny and advice on how to implement measures in the different areas overseen by the Council, in addition to contributing to the running of the Council itself.

Cllr. Michael is continuing in her position as the Chairman of the Development Control Committee, which oversees contentious and large-scale development projects in the Borough and decides whether they should go ahead.

Cllr. Coldspring-White is succeeding Cllr. Turrell as the Vice Chairman of the Renewal, Recreation and Housing Policy, Development and Scrutiny Committee, which oversees the Council’s management of parks and leisure services; funding to improve local neighbourhoods and it’s housing policy.

Cllr. Turrell is continuing on the Public Protection and Safety Policy, Development and Scrutiny Committee, which oversees the Council’s response to crime and antisocial behaviour – and will be joined by Cllr. Michael, given the strength of feeling on the issue amongst residents.

Cllrs. Coldspring-White, Michael and Turrell commented:

“First of all, we would like to thank Cllr. Mike Botting for his past year’s service as Mayor, and congratulate Cllr. Jeffreys in what we hope will be a successful year highlighting the best of our Borough.

“All three of us are committed to doing our bit to keep Bromley as London’s Best Borough. That’s why between us, we’ve taken on a comprehensive list of committees that cover a wide number of areas important to residents across Hayes, Coney Hall and Keston Village; from housing, planning, children’s services and keeping our streets safe.

“We look forward to the Civic year ahead and continuing to contribute to making Bromley the best place to live, work and raise a family”.
